Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Zion Benton. However, many aspects of the school and activities were severely underfunded, were not considered important and went unnoticed, especially the arts. For decades, the school has not had an auditiorum. The though of one being built was not considered until students took charge 2 years ago and forced the school to acknowlege its necessity. Furthermore, this school was in complete denial about the ppresence of the LGBTQ+ communty in our our school, shutting down the GSA's efforts on multiple occasions. One thing I do praise about the school are the AP and Honors teachers. The are extremly passionate and you are gurenteed to learn a lot from whatever teacher you have.

Zion-Benton Township High School was overall a good high school with good academics, strong athletics, and diverse community. There were many clubs and after school activities that were fun and active throughout the school year. However, one thing I would like to see change would be the security guards. One can obviously notice that the security guards have favorite students causing them to be unequal with other students. As security guards, they must focus on following school rules instead of picking favorites.
Interesting and rewarding, New Tech requires an application/recommendation from middle school teachers. It allows 100 students to submit application. Groups of students tend to follow with each other throughout the years, opportunity for enrolling in dual credit program with College of Lake County, thereby earning more credits than necessary to graduate from high school. Teachers are great, taking time to explain or meet with you whenever you have concerns. I enjoyed being in the smaller student school atmosphere.
