Yreka High School gave me the opportunity of experiencing recreational outdoor activities which included: hiking, fishing, and outdoor survival skills. In my natural resources class we constructed an outdoor classroom, cleaned the local creek, and volunteered with the California Department of fish and game. As a former student of Yreka High School, I had great experiences with their extracurricular classes. In each extracurricular class I took I learned a new skill and was able to improve that skill during the academic year. The school has a plenty of great attributes, but there are a few necessary adjustments that can implemented to improve the school.
Yreka High School needs a better college preparedness program that will teach students about life on a college campus and bring awareness of certain dangers. A class that will teach students how to fiance properly for college and for students making the decision not to attend college.

I came to Yreka High School from another high school almost 3 times it's size. Making the switch and seeing the closeness of the community was my favorite thing about it. I also had a great group of friends, which helped! The small town feel of the school made it feel less like I was just a face in the crowd, and more like I was a valued student.
I graduated YHS in 2018. What I liked most about the school was the help I got my senior year applying for colleges and scholarships. It was also very convenient that they offer dual enrollment so that I was able to earn college credit while attending a regular high school class!
