I attended a small private school, Yorktown Education, since sixth grade. The school curriculum allowed students to progress at our own pace rather than a traditional school model with traditional grade levels. I advanced through the curriculum quickly. I took high school level courses at an early age and then took college dual enrollment courses for two years before graduation. I learned to strive for excellence and the results of the self-paced learning allowed me to graduate one year early at 16 years old. Upon graduation, I decided to take a gap year to focus on gaining experience in the areas I wanted to pursue in college.

This is my second year studying at this school and so far my experience has been amazing. Because I’m an international student, I was really afraid of not being accepted/treated badly. For my luck, this did not happen. Everybody treats me well and I can count on my friends/school staff when I need help.
Some things that might be considered bad but weren’t a problem to me: there is no space for sports, most of the learning is through the computer (of course there’s always a teacher to help you in case you need it) and the school is really small (<200)
I think that Yorktown prepares the students really well for college, since the school is really small the teachers can give more time and attention for those who need it.
In my opinion one of the most interesting things about this school is how involved the staff is with personalized teaching. It’s a great school for those who have trouble learning. The teachers are wonderful and they really helped me with my adaptation in the US
Highly recommend this accredited school! Two teenagers who love going to school, are three years ahead of their peers, are respectful and independent, don't do drugs and did I say they are teenagers?
