York Prep has been an amazing school for our daughter. While quite smart, our daughter has struggled with some academics and was bullied. She started 6th grade at York and this year has been amazing for her. She has flourish academically with the support of all the teachers, the small classes and the Jump Start Program The small class sizes and staff to student ratio means that kids don’t fall through the cracks. York has a great understanding of learning differences including issues with reading, writing, processing speed, working memory, and ADHD.

She was able to make an amazing group of friends, participated in the school play and several other afterschool programs. Students are also supported emotionally. There is no tolerance for bullying. There is a mentoring class and the school counselors are available to meet at lunch and afterschool and work closely with teachers to address any issues that arise in the classroom.

I have attended York for the past three and a half years. I started off as a mediocre student and not being confident in my academics to a very strong student. The College Guidence Administration helps second semester Juniors and New Seniors with the college application process, making everything as clean as possible. The school doesn’t just help you get into college, but in your Senior year they also start to give you more of a college ideal. The teachers give you projects and papers that are shorter but similar to what you’d be getting in college. And the kids attending the school from sixth to twelfth grade are all open minded and love to welcome new students.
I wouldn't choose this school again. The nicest person here hands down is the admissions counselor. She's lovely. and there are some great teachers, as well as some duds. The facilities are odd, but sort of charmingly so. But before I went to this school I didn't really understand what a difference was, in practice, between a profit and a non-profit school. The principal, who owns the school, and runs the school, and is not an educator but a lawyer, really just seems to be in it for the money. His heart is not with the kids. He's not an inspirational character, he's just a guy who knows how to exploit loopholes and cover his behind. I didn't like the effect his way of thinking had on my kids.
