Overall it’s been an interesting 6-7 years attending yeca, no school is entirely perfect but my school improved immensely over my time there. I’ve learned so much that I will take with me to college, I’ve made lifelong friends, trusted relationships with my teachers, protected by the school and facility members. I will forever be thankful for my experience at yeca. Everyone’s experience could have possibly been different than mine which is okay. I’ve become a more mature and independent young women thanks to the amount of time I’ve spent at yeca. The school a teenager attends really does influence who they are outside of that building. I appreciate all that my high school has done for me with the exception of minor imperfections.
Friends. I can’t think of anything more luxurious than spending every day with my friends. When you leave school, meeting up with even one friend can take a lot of organising.
Free knowledge. My school was free: it cost me and my parents £0. £0 for English, maths, geography, history, art, and lots of other subjects. What a bargain! Learning can be really expensive when you leave school - especially in the US, where university has now become almost as expensive as buying a little house.

My whole 7 years at this school passed by in the blink of an eye. The best part was gaining college experience and college credits to move on in the real world. There were many things to thank YECA for and one of them being giving a tremendous opportunity for the undeserved minority students of its community. One thing I would change is how the school is managed because sometimes it feels slightly lawless and a bit out of order. They need a firm hand to guide the students as well as someone who makes the students feel heard, (not just the popular ones.) The way new staff filters in and out of the school creates a gap between child and adult connections. Aside from that, I loved this school academically. One of the best decisions my parents could have mad for my future.
