Some may say Yerba Buena High School may be a 'ghetto' school due to the rumors of excessive drug dealing/usages, fights, and low quality school lunches. Okay, the last part is true. Everything else is indeed rumors. Like every school, there is bound to be some fights and kids who smoke (not excessively). I can vouch for this as I am a junior. My experience, who's in sports, clubs, and school activities, YB is great. We recently had 4 sports win championship: Girls' Vball, Water Polo, Girls' Tennis, and XC. I am in Girls' Tennis as varsity doubles 1 player. I am also in Animal Pack. I volunteer every other Saturday at the adoption event for 4 hours. Our teachers are great as they are so helpful. It's been a fast 1st semester. Time goes by fast when you're having fun! My experience at YB has been nice, and there are some ups and downs but for me, the positives outweigh the negatives by a landslide. People say what they want to say but I say that Yerba Buena High School is great school.

I came from Bridges Academy. During my freshmen year, everyone was nice and friendly. The teachers were also very welcoming. Most of the school is either Asian or Mexican, which wasn’t a big deal for me. The problem was that the teachers are very biased and most of them do not do their jobs. They ignore the minorities, especially those who need help. They neglect certain students and fail to motivate students to work harder to pursue their goals. Teachers are also judgmental, which does not provide a comfortable educational environment for students. The administration has done nothing to help those who are struggling. Although giving certain students the option to take recovery, they do not provide any sort of support system. Most of the students are also at fault. They are arrogant and problematic, with no intentions of succeeding in the future. They look down upon others who do not exceed their standards.
Something I have really enjoyed about Yerba Buena High School is how all students interact regardless of our ethnicities and back grounds. Everyone is friendly and there has rarely been any issues with bullying or discrimination. Something else I like is how staff is really helpful when it comes to academics. They help you obtain the best education and often push you to do things that students would have never thought of doing academically. I also like how staff gets really involved with students such as in rallies, school activities, and sports. They are a huge aspect to the school and that is something I really enjoy.
