Great student-teacher relationships. Small selection of electives and extracurricular, but what is offered is fairly unique and very well attended. Shout out to School Forest!

I praise the school district for its uniqueness and positive attitutde toward every aspect of school. The principle, vice principal, and super intendent can be seen walking around the school, sitting in on classes, and starting up a conversation with students. The typical bully you see in movies does not happen here. From my six years here, I saw maybe one bully incident and it was taken care of immediately by all aspects of faculty and staff. The teachers and students can connect on a personally level and get individual help when needed. Some group of students even sit in the classrooms with the teachers during lunchtime which does not seem common in very many schools. Recently the school was awarded as being one of the top schools around and it clearly shows why when you meet the students who go there and just how excited the teachers are about being there.
A small close-knit school for a small close-knit community, YSHS is a institution where change and growth is never shied away from and new ways to learn and teach are always being looked into. With classroom sizes normally in the 12-20ish people range, lessons are made much more interactive, with discussion always being appreciated. Although there may be certain new teaching styles not all students agree with, e.g, project based learning, critiques are always constructive, with the end goal of improving the YSHS academic and social experinece for all in mind.
