Pride, excellence, and tradition are what I feel overall about jack yates high school. The community is so close with yates that it almost feels like we are a family each connected. Jack Yates high school is a decent place to learn and it's known for its history. Being in one of the lowest known high school from the district of HISD makes me feels to start a change in the classes overall. School of communication is what yates is known for but in reality, a lot of students here is not interested. I would like to see a lot of more options connected to STEM, nursing, business and more because I want to see what a student is capable of pursuing their dreams

Pride, excellence, and tradition is the Jack Yates High School motto. As a Jack Yates leader, the legacy of Pride, Excellence, and Tradition means to me that failure is not an option. My ancestors, whom of which had multiple generations prior to my upcoming graduation to be graduates of Jack Yates Senior High School, lived a legacy built on pride, excellence, and tradition. My great-aunt, Nadine Bobb-Woods (age 80), was the first to start this tradition within my roots. My whole family have experienced the Bobb legacy of excellence within Jack Yates. The sense of excellence, as a Jack Yates student, is seen without my whole academic career at Yates. Being a volleyball player, I started from the bottom of the “tier”. As of this year, I am the captain and this, for example, is one of my examples of excellence. I am the legacy of pride, excellence, and tradition. Jack Yates High School has pushed me to go above and beyond the expectations that society has placed upon me.
Yates High school is a IB school. We have wonderful academics. Not only do we have academics we have sports. Our award winning basketball team has won many championships. We do a lot of community service around the community. We have photography, a radio class, a studio where kids can record their own music, and digital media. Yates is the best school.
