I believe that W.T Woodson High School deserves a 3/5 stars because, although the classes were highly advance and educationally beneficial towards preparation for college, there was a lack of individuality in the teaching staff's abilities. Personally, I prefer being taught in a more thought provoking environment and, unfortunately, Woodson was one of the High Schools that were unable to meet that preference for me. I grew up in a military family and I have experienced many schooling districts so I believe I have a knowledgable view on how students should be taught. However, everyone has their own opinions and therefore ratings have been created. If you are a parent reading this who believes that testing and the infamous outstanding 4.0 GPA is best for your child then, by all means, Woodson is the school for you!

I like my classes, choice of classes and the people...great friends! I have a lot of opportunities to get involved in various activities that meet my interests. I am challenged to be my best at Woodson in many ways including in academics and in citizenship. Our school is large but that is good because everyone can find their group of friends. The teachers are nice and approachable. I feel like I can talk to them about any questions I have.
As a senior who has participated in Orchestra, AP Environmental Sciences and French, Cross Country, honors and non-honors courses, and a variety of culture and volunteer clubs, I've seen a number of perspectives. AP courses are rigorous and the competitive environment helps the most with "college readiness". Woodson is academic focused from the student perspective in how test scores begin to affect a student's image among his peers. Athletics/clubs/Arts: if you're able to mantain a seasonal schedule, you'll be able to make time for everything. but really it comes down to priority. Only one late-bus also creates obstacles for particpation. When it comes to racial diversity, there's a lot of that. As for culture, there only seems to be the extremes and kids forcing themselves to fit the image of their race to the point where it's almost amusing and sometimes dangerous. But beyond that, administration stereotypes students and sometimes behaves in ways that could be interpreted as racist.
