Woodlawn School Reviews
Rating 4.41 out of 5 41 reviews
I attended Woodlawn between 2015 to 2021 (5th-10th grade)
Most of the teachers at this school were wonderful, however, some were horribly disorganized and refused to recognize that it was a problem for all their students. Some teachers failed to enforce discipline or control students in their classrooms.
Some of my peers took classes that they didn't want to but were required to take and manipulated teachers into wasting time. As someone who actually wanted to learn, this was upsetting.
Communication from this school was super unclear and late notice was common.
At the time I went to this school, they refused to let me take Dual Enrollment courses :(
This school forced me to learn to advocate for myself, which is a good skill to have. however, the reason I developed this skill reflects poorly on the school.
I was bullied and ostracized socially for several years here. The school's attempts at addressing this were subpar. Small-class environments can be socially difficult.

Woodlawn has the most passionate faculty and staff at a high school I have personally encountered. The teachers don't treat the students as a number but included them as family. I would not be where I am today without the help of the teachers at Woodlawn pushing me through my high school education. The classes can be very challenging but many colleges find this very applicable in their schools and there will be such an easy transfer for any student from Woodlawn to college
When stepping outside of academics the student body is not your normal school. There is zero diversity except for the private schools "token black kid" that they make sure to put on everything. The students are either very stereotypical "rich kids" and have zero awareness, or very passionate in representing there inclusion in the lgbtq+ category. For kids that want a "normal" high school experience, I would not recommend Woodlawn as most of my favorite teachers are long gone.

Our family has been apart of the Woodlawn for 6 years. T?he experience is positive for all 3 of our children. When looking at a private school, you expect high academics, well-appointed facilities, bright peers, and top-notch teachers. W delivers on all of this. My children have become problem solvers, critical thinkers, global, and are immersed in a diverse community. W was built on core values educating the whole child, academically, emotionally and physically.
The curriculum teaches all types of learners effectively. It isproject-based; challenging the youngest of minds, developing lifelong learners. Children learn in whole and small groups, and receive individual atten. The teachers are exceptional. Teaching beyond the classroom.
Leadership has found a balance in being progressive- building on an 18-year tradition of excellence. There has been changes, but all have been positive and have not affected our educational experience.
Woodlawn is FAMILY.
