We looked for a faith based education and chose Woodlands for three reasons: small class sizes, the ability to participate in many activities simultaneously, and unique opportunities offered by the school. Our daughter is a sophomore and in all areas we are extremely happy.

Small classes are taught by caring teachers who made the decision to be at this particular school. They personally connect with each girl and make certain she gets the most from her education.

Woodlands’ schedule allows students to take orchestra before school, several clubs during lunch, and both choir and sports or theater after school. My daughter plays a sport, is a class officer, sings in two choirs and participates in four clubs. This level of involvement is common.

Students enjoy unique global experiences - foreign students boarding at school and visiting on exchange, educational and service trips abroad, and the ability to go on exchange to over 100 schools in the Sacred Heart Network around the world.

Woodlands is deeply committed to the young ladies and families it serves offering very strong academics, opportunities for both personal and spiritual development, and excellent college counseling! The staff are amazing, too. We loved the former principal, Mrs. Edmunds, and also equally love the current principal, Christine Schmidt (who is doing a fantastic job)! Everyone here -- including a knowledgeable registrar -- is doing an outstanding job educating these spirited, very smart, caring young women. My only complaint would be the choices made by the board of trustees. I hope people know that the trustees don't speak for all parents. I still disagree with their decision to let valuable staff go in order to save funds & I also think they would benefit from new, fresher perspectives/members. No place is ever perfect, of course, but this private all-girl's Catholic high school on the northshore comes pretty darn close! A++
This is my first year here, and I enjoyed my time at WA. I am new to the environment here so I have quite a lot of problems during my first semester. However, thanks to the great learning program, the teachers, and the staff members here, I am able to go over them and get used to my new life. The people I met at school (including students, teachers & staff members) are really nice. They are friendly, kind and so lovely. I really love the boarding school environment, too. The dorm rooms' sizes are perfect for students. The meals here are pretty good with a diversity of many different culture's dishes like Chinese, Japanese, Mexican,... During the weekends and after school, the boarding school holds many different activities such as going to the movies, to Target, Hmart, to downtown Lake Forest, Highland Park, and to many other places. Sometimes, we also have community meetings, games & activities to connect students. I highly recommend applying to Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart.
