Our daughter graduated from Woodlands several years ago. In core subjects, Woodlands has a good reputation. However due to the small size of the school, courses are limited. Students have to wait a year or two for a course or go take it online, at no cost or classroom experience.
If your student is into sports, don't send them to Woodlands. With the exception of tennis, the teams are mediocre. The school doesn't hire highly experienced coaches. One coach will oversee multiple sports.
Activities, including theater, most music, robotics and others are run as clubs, not serious pursuits. The robotics program is student run, with little expert involvement. The theater program has no trained theater professionals to help the girls and is student led. Training isn’t provided. The choir program has lacked professionalism since the departure of a long tenured choir teacher of excellence.
If you're looking for an all girls school experience, there are better choices.

After sending multiple girls to Woodlands, it is no surprise its consistently ranked #1 for All Girls in Illinois.
It has been a fantastic experience. It is a tight-knit community where they meet girls from all over the world. My daughters have also had the opportunity to travel to other Sacred Heart schools internationally.
Lifelong friends have been made, strong academics that have led to top tier colleges out East, and multiple leadership opportunities that are extremely difficult to grasp in larger schools. The sports have a good balance of competitive edge with also being welcoming to beginners. The choir and orchestra are award winning, and the faculty will know your daughter and care about her. Take a look at the gorgeous 46 acres and ravines in Lake Forest. Feel secure your daughter is safe, secure, beautifully educated, and being given the tools to face the future as a strong, happy and confident young lady. Check it out, and you won't be disappointed.
Woodlands Academy is a great school to be personally connected with your teachers. This allows the students to understand the topics better since there is a more personal connection established. However, there are some downfalls to this school. From personal experience, the administration has a hard time giving students the correct form of punishment. They result to the worst possible outcome instead of trying to be restorative. The highlights I will take away from my experiences are all because I used my resources wisely, however, I do not recommend this school to anyone despite how academically well-rounded we are.
