Woodlan prepared me for college more than I could imagine. The teachers always cared and made an effort to see you succeed. Based in a somewhat rural community I always felt safe when going to school. While it is still a public school, the atmosphere was pleasant with amazing and caring students. It is unlike many public schools in the area. Extracurriculars are important to this school, and coaches help athletes to grow as a person by establishing teamwork and leadership. I feel thankful that I was able to complete my high school career at Woodlan.

Woodlan Junior Senior High School has amazing teachers who are good at there job and care for the students they teach. The school teaches to the best of their ability while making sure every student learns what they need to at a steady pace. They have lunch plans that meet the nutrition level that we need. The school provides advanced classes to those who excel in one subject and they provide normal classes for those who need the basic teachings. They provide a success period where they prepare us for tests, such as; I-step, PSAT, SAT, bundle tests, and NWEA. By doing this they are setting the students up for a good future. The staff is supportive with what we want to do with our lives and tries to help us achieve our goals. If I could change something about my school I would change it so we have more clubs and opportunities. By adding more clubs it gives the students more experience and so they have more opportunities that will help them in the future.
The small local high school of Woodburn, Indiana lacks resources and lending hands. Although the school is very diverse within race and cultures it not intellectually advanced. The school lacks the drive to better its students and their futures. The educational opportunities are very limited. There aren't very many if at all dual or A/P opportunities for students. Teachers do not readily prepare the students for academics in college. Whereas a near by high school, Carroll High School actively helps better and educate their students. Woodlan needs to enforce higher learning and stricter academics in order to better their students and their lives.
