I had a student at Wood River high school for all 4 years. While there were some challenges due to Covid resulting in the loss of traditions and so many opportunities that we take for granted, the excellent faculty made it bearable and even rewarding in a climate that could have been devastating. My daughter was lucky to have been a student at Wood River High!
The response to Covid-19 was immediate as the community had quickly become a hotspot for the virus. I appreciated the continuous communication between students and teachers. As graduation was cancelled there was a Class of 2020 car parade that followed social distancing practices for the seniors. It traveled through residential areas, allowing many to see their children from home, and more compelled individuals lined up along the road. Signs reading "Congratulations" and posters of graduates being held.
We live in a priviledged community, with low poverty and low crime. The State funds standardized tests and there are teachers that are more than willing to help you suceed. This doesn't mean we should make meme accounts on intagram about our administrators, but we should also be more appriciative of them.
Thank you WRHS for a great 2019-2020 school year, I can't wait for the opportunity to come back to class.

The Wood River High school is a phenomenal learning environment. They offer a variety of classes, from the arts to AP to other electives, you have to find something you enjoy at this school. There is a community feel where everyone is there to support and help you (both students and teachers). Along with academics, this school offers a variety of clubs and sports to participate in. I have taken advantage of such opportunities and could not be happier. As the president of W.A.T.E.R Club, I have been able to be involved in many activities. And am currently working on a project to make hand dryers a reality in our school. This is combating the lack of environmental awareness I see in this school (one thing I would like to change). I also previde recyling to the school through this club. WRHS provides interships, scholarships, college prepardness, meeting with professionals a commonality, and gives every student the opprunity to suceede.
