My experience at Wolcott High School has been generally positive. I have received many academic opportunities that I feel as though have adequately prepared me for the college experience. I have been given the chance to take several AP and UConn courses to receive college credit, and now I am on track to graduate college a year early. Wolcott High School has been a generally good experience for me!
I'm leaving this review at the tail end of my freshman year, and thus far, I'm very happy with my experience at Wolcott High School. Very good opportunities available to students in terms of extracurriculars. Most sports are alright, but cheerleading and dance are very good programs (we've been national champions several times before in the former discipline). Our robotics team is also above average and is known across New England. Teachers are, for the most part, good, but most students do lament about the English department's style of grading. Fairly low diversity here, but that's true across the town. The counseling department is good in both counseling and college/career readiness. The student government does a solid job promoting culture, with spirit weeks and the like. Music department is average, with a marching and pep/band. However, band and chorus are both classes and a credit has to be dedicated to them. Fairly small class sizes. WHS is overall a very good high school.
My time at Wolcott High School was the best years of my life. Coming in as a freshman I was nothing but nervous and anxious that I was not going to be liked or appreciated. However, quickly I realized that was not true as the first day I got there everyone was nothing but welcoming. The seniors showed me around and all the other upper class men included me in their activities. The teachers were amazing and truly showed that their intentions were to help me so I could succeed. From always staying after class whenever I needed help to providing me advice on life showed me that I always would have an adult in my life that would be nothing but help. The community at Wolcott High School is something I’ve never seen before. Everyone at the school cares about each other and will always without hesitation help each other. My experiences at Wolcott High School were nothing but perfect.
