It is a very small school (about 140 students K-12), so it is a very tight-knit community. The teachers truly care about their students, and are always willing to help one-on-one. Unfortunately, Wishkah seems to be a last resort for students who were expelled from or were failing in nearby schools, which means teachers take more time to explain subjects in class. The small classes, combined with the school's interest in lowering failure rates creates a slower-paced learning environment. This is great for students who need extra help, but it leaves high achieving students frustrated, bored, and yearning for stimulation. Overall, the school is great for students who may need more help in the classroom and don't want to try-out for sports!

During my years of education at Wishkah Valley School, I was very involved in different clubs and sports. For me, enrollment began in 5th grade, although I wish it would've been sooner. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a smile from my teacher and felt very welcomed. Many educational and extra-curricular opportunities are available, including Associated Student Body, National Honor Society, a variety of athletics and special college preparedness. Because of the typically low-numbered classes, students can have the opportunity to receive 1-on-1 learning , which helps students succeed substantially. From the kind help of my teachers, coaches, staff, family and friends, I was blessed to be able to graduate from Wishkah Valley School as the Salutatorian of my senior class, graduate with Honors, and receive multiple scholarships for the next year as I started my college career. Wishkah Valley School offers an experience that is an absolute blessing for students.
I like the small-school environment. You know everyone's names and get good one on one help with teachers. However, its smallness means not a whole lot of educational options.
