Winthrop High School is very small. In the entire high school, there are 255 kids... In a way, it's nice because I know everyone in my school, but it also makes it harder for programs and classes to stay running. In the last 4 years, I have had 4 different principles. That is something not every high schooler can say. It makes it very difficult to see improvements in our school because the rules and policies change every year. That has been very difficult. However, we do have some staff member that are extraordinary educators. Our science and math department is very strong. English seems to be a struggle at WHS though. The educators in that department are all very different and they all teach very differently. Overall Winthrop is not a bad school to be at. I believe there can be improvements but like most things, the school is a work in progress.

Winthrop prepared me for life in a lot of ways. It gave me the college skills I needed while also helping me prepare for what real life was going to be like. I know that experience was unique for me in what I decided to do while being there and most people wouldn't have had that but the possibilities are there. The years at Winthrop are ones I look fondly back at, even only a few years out of the system. It's a great school system with a lot to offer, even if they do face limitations due to being in such a small town.
An excellent environment for working and learning, however, not the best control over students and can be more organized as a whole.
