Churchill is an okay school. The teachers are hit or miss. Many students have a lack of personality and sanity and there are few that tend to be VERY pretentious. Occasionally, you’ll find a group or two of students that aren’t completely bad. As a side note, when they wax the floor, they don’t bother to vacuum or clean the surface beforehand, which leads to hairballs, dirt, and dust plastered for eternity under the surface, still visible to the eye. The school yearly production, Blast, is okay to watch because it’s interactive and who doesn’t like music! Actually being in Blast is, to say least, unbearable. Everything is disorganized and rushed, entitled students treat others with little respect when learning dances and songs, and directors overwork the students during the week before the performance. Teachers are not respectful and not particularly helpful despite that being their job. Overall, this school could do better but... it’s definitely not as bad as it could be.
School size is very manageable compared to some other county schools. It did feel like a community. Overall, there is a good mix of old school and newer teaching methods with the teachers. Also, the sports programs at Churchill are very competitive and fun to support. It's a great way to stay involved and meet new people. There are a variety of clubs as well -- whatever you're interested in, there is definitely something for you! If you don't find what you're looking for, Churchill makes starting a club very easy.
Winston Churchill High School is academically a high achieving school, offering almost, if not all AP classes and exams. Students are competitive, achieving high SAT scores and commonly taking multiple AP classes per year. Unfortunately, Churchill HS has recently ramped up its grade inflation, making it difficult to distinguish between competitive students. As for athletics, Churchill HS tends to be great at almost every sport. There are many extracurricular activities one can participate in at Churchill HS, with many clubs and opportunities for community service. Teachers at the school tend to be very good, although there are some outliers to this.
