I like that Churchill offers classes ranging Global Issues to Personal Finance. These diverse classes ensure that everyone can find something they're interested in studying. We have sports teams and theater, as well as Best Buddies, One Acts, and countless other clubs. If students don't see activities that interest them, theycan start their own clubs, which allows them to act as a leader or make a home for oneself within the community. Teachers at my school are also very hardworking. For the most part, they devote their lunch time to give extra help. Unfortunately, Churchill has a very competitive nature. There is much pressure put on students to take as many AP classes as possible and to value grades above all else. Students often feel like outsiders if they don't take APs or get a good GPA. However, Churchill does its best to make the environment positive. They bring therapy dogs to school and allowing for wellness days to help students relax.

Churchill HS is a very competitive high school. This is good because it prepares students for college, and arms students with good problem-solving and communication skills. On the downside, this also creates a stressful culture where everybody has high expectations regarding grades, extracurriculars, and college acceptance. However, students are working incessantly to reduce this stress culture and create a strong support system for those who need one. In terms of resources, Churchill has an excellent media center, excellent teachers (for the most part), and a wide variety of clubs, sports, and arts programs to participate in. For all its flaws and slightly stressful environment, I love Churchill HS for all that it has helped me learn and grow, and for the incredible students and teachers I have met here.
Overall, Churchill has a great academic atmosphere. Though rigorous, it will push students to think in a way that will better prepare them for college. Most teachers were knowledgeable and professional about their subjects, and loved to help students outside of class. In terms of departments, the music department was what hit home for me. The teachers and students have a unique relationship that makes the school much more enjoyable. Had I not been a part of that department, I would have had a completely different high school experience.
Socially, Churchill was not the easiest. Students tend to be quite cliquey and lacking in the "friendliness" department. It takes a bit of work to find your group, but once you do, it makes school that much better. Should you need any help, however, the staff provides excellent resources to get you through your time at Churchill and prepare you for college.
