Winston Churchill high school prides it’s self on being a blue ribbon school, but not on the mental well being of it’s students. Despite many students doing well and receiving decent grades, many students are silently suffering. The best way to describe churchill is a “pressure cooker”. Students are constantly pressured to take more and harder AP classes. Students are pressured not to complain about the work load or the hazardous effects school is having on their mental health. I have had many teachers who have changed my views on education, they opened the doors of knowledge for me. Yet, I have also had teachers try to slam said doors. The social life is hit or miss. The students at churchill are generally very accepting of everyone and overall welcoming. There isn’t much school spirit, except for they class of ‘18 they had a lot of spirit! Overall, I did enjoy my time at churchill and believe it has shapped me into the person I am today.

I love WCHS. I couldn’t ask for a better school and it definitely prepared me for college. With that being said, I would like to see some things change. Most teachers do their jobs well but a select few rely too heavily on websites/worksheets to teach their students. Aside from that, the students are driven and motivated as shown by their 96 percent graduation rate. They offer many resources and good counselors that help students succeed and get involved in internships, clubs, and sports. Overall it is an A school!
I love the academics and the challenging environment! Many students find taking advanced classes a lot more beneficial and fun! However, I think because of such an academic focus culture within the school, students focus less on school spirit and creative after school activities other than extracurricular activities.
