I loved Winnebago Lutheran Academy for many reasons. Some being everyday you are connected to God, your teachers care about your school and personal life, and with smaller classes you are able to meet and talk to everyone. Everyday at WLA, you are required to go to a 16 minute chapel devotion which you can hear about God's word everyday. You are also required to take a religion course every year to graduate. Teachers at WLA are very friendly and want your personal life and your academic life to be going well. You can talk to any teachers about personal problems. Also if you don't understand a concept or are struggling with a class, you can go directly to that teacher and they are more than happy to help you understand. At WLA, all of your class are pretty small. This helps you because you can get more one-on-one help with the teacher and also is nice because you get a chance to meet everyone and talk with them.

I enjoyed going to my high school, though it wasn't the newest, nicest school or in the nicest neighborhood. The teachers cared about us and our education, they were very helpful and pushed us to do what we needed to do to graduate and be prepared for the next chapter of our lives. There were some afterschool clubs and if you had enough people you could form your own club, like board game club. I struggled in some subjects because some of the classes I struggled in taught lecture style instead of being engaging and hands-on. I had issues with the guidance counselor they had for the last two years I was there. She didn't have the skills it took to help us plan and apply for colleges and the next steps we needed to take for college. Overall, I enjoyed going to WLA and what they taught me that was most important; God's word and our everlasting salvation in Christ Jesus our Lord.
WLA feels like one big happy family. The teachers genuinely care about your learning and understanding, and each one of them is willing to go out of their way to help you. The students are kind to each other, and everyone gets involved in many different subjects. There are so many opportunities to get involved whether that is in sports, through school, arts, or music-there is something for everyone. Best of all, you get to hear about the saving message of Jesus Christ every day in chapel and religion class.
