We truly love this school! Academics, sports, extracurricular activities, teachers, and staff ... our experience has been amazing! We are excited that our daughters will have the opportunity to receive their associate degree from Aims Community College while still in high school. Students take college courses on Windsor Charter Academy's campus; they don't have to travel to a college campus to attend any courses. As a parent, I'm grateful that they can fully live their high school experience while also earning their degree - free of charge. Honestly, my husband and I will save four years of college costs (2 years for each child). That is a huge deal! Love this school!
I am currently in my fourth year of high school at Windsor Charter Academy. From reflecting on my experiences, I would say that, while Windsor Charter excels with its academics, the school has some major issues with several other factors. Being an early college high school, the school prioritizes academics and college prep above everything else, resulting in high tests scores and low student moral and extracurriculars. Furthermore, teachers and staff go under paid while school administrators make six digit salaries and are constantly trying to make more money. The school advertises free college education, but that is a lie, as every year fees increase more and more, due to greedy administrators. Most of the teachers and staff truly care about the students, but overall administration does not, and that is the issue.
I started attending Windsor Charter during my freshman year, and this is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was homeschooled for the majority of my middle school career and I was unsure about attending a public school. Windsor Charter Academy is an early college high school, so I have been taking college classes since I was a freshman. The school slowly integrates you into college classes and now as a senior I am now only taking college classes from AIMS Community College. I can really tell that the teachers and Administrators really care about the students. These teachers work extremely long hours in order to ensure that the students are getting a high quality education. By attending Windsor Charter I have had the opportunity to be involved in some great programs and leadership roles. I have had the opportunity to play basketball and soccer and I am the team captain of both sports.
