My mom n dad graduated from that school back in the days n that school is growing plus they added a new football stadium on school campus can't wait to check it out at the homecoming at the wilson alumni!!!
Wilson High School has great diversity which allows me to feel welcome. I am a POC along with several others at Wilson. Being a POC is hard in Florence, SC however Wilson makes it easy and makes me feel like I have a place that has people like me. At Wilson, the IB program is offered which allows for great opportunities. IB students are very open-minded and welcoming. They have no room for racism or discrimination of any kind. In IB we are all one and the same. We are all going toward the same goal of graduating and getting a good job. The only thing I would change at Wilson is the conditions; because Wilson is the least funded school in all of Florence. Which does not go well with a good learning environment.
In Wilson High School, academics are average at best because the school is mainly divided into two student categories: Regular/Honors and International Baccalaureate (IB). Through the IB Programs, their students are able to receive interesting and challenging courses like Theory of Knowledge and IB Biology Higher-Level as well as mandatory student activities like community service, personal projects, and internal assessments. However, the quality of courses and teachers is noticeably much worse for the Honors students. As a result, college readiness is tremendously hindered for regulars compared to IB students. Not only are the academics hindered, but the school culture is also too. Expectations and values for the regulars/Honors students are a lot lower than IB students. From what I have observed, students attending AP courses and other college readiness courses are mainly that of IB students. To me, it seems like the school should provide more human resources to help outside of IB.
Wilson is a very diverse school. It is school that welcomes you to it's large family. Once you become a Tiger, you will always be a Tiger.
Wilson High School has given me so many opportunities both academically and though athletics. The school host a variety of programs including, MYP/IB program and the SC GSSM Team-Up program. The teachers and staff are always working to try and get the best for their students. Overall, I have enjoyed my time as a tiger and will be sad to leave.
It was okay. Not the best school socially. If you don't fit into the category that everyone else is in your basically a loner. Now academic wise it's pretty average, the one thing I love about the school is the teachers. Most of them are very nice and flexible knowing that some of us teens have actual responsibilities on our shoulders. They really know how to work with students even when we're going through tough times. They always know how to not stress their students out. This is an important quality in teachers that I usually don't see normally and I know plenty of students in other schools around the country. Most teachers nowadays really know how to stress students out and make there live ten times hard then it has to be. That right there is why so many students drop out so quickly because of the teachers, peers, and stress that comes from school. You can even see the graduation rate is the highest it's ever been this year and I think that's all thanks to the teachers of wilson.
I attended Wilson High from freshman year to senior year (I’m a current senior). School spirit is one of the most important things to the student and staff; you truly feel like part of a family. The teachers are well educated and work well with the students on both a class and educational basis. I feel safe when I go to class there (though I have been online since March 2020 because of COVID.) The only thing I wish that could change is allocation of money; sports, especially football, is extremely important to students and staff and is well taken care of, but the art and STEM programs could use a little tlc.
I really love Wilson High School. I feel like I get a really good education, yet I still have fun every single day. We have the best school pride in the town, and I look forward to the homecoming every year. The school is getting new renovations and they are starting to look great!
Wilson High School is a very culture-rich and diverse high school with students from all backgrounds. What appealed to me the most is their range of classes available from college prep to AP to IB to even dual-enrollment. There are also many great teachers and administrators at the school that want nothing but the best for the students. In addition to that, Wilson High also possess an array of sports, clubs, and extracurricular activities. We have some of the best athletes on our sports teams that are signed to play at the D1 level regularly each year. The school is known not just throughout the town, but even the county and state for having extraordinary school spirit. Overall, Wilson high is a school that finds the perfect balance between academics, sports, and spirit.
The Wilson High School atmosphere is one of methodical and disciplined learning that provides an environment for successful learning. Wilson sections students by grade and difficulty level of subjects to provide a more systematic way of learning. Students that need ample time to grasp the concepts get separated from the students that can comprehend concepts at a faster pace. When subjects such as mathematics, science, and language classes are together, teachers gain access to the ideas of other teachers. As a result, the learning environment of the students becomes more diverse. Due to the diversity and organization, Wilson High School helps students to succeed.
The athletic program was awesome and the teachers and counselors were a great support staff. There are a diversity of students at Wilson high school and they worked together as one.
Wilson high was a lot of fun. The learning there was help expand my knowledge to work in the real world. Wilson has always been a great school to learn at.
Wilson is comparatively to most high school in the us as an average school, with the exception of the IB program. The school itself gives the students average opportunity, as students begin their lives after high school. Even though Wilson may have the IB program, many schools are beginning to adopt high ways of learning like AP. As they do, IB becomes less of a unique experience.
equality, IB students and regular students should all have the same opportunities. Needs a healthier and more diverse lunch menu. should pay teachers more.
Wilson high school is the best in SC. The alumni is indescribable. Wilson build pride in their students. Wilson is a school that is genuinely concerned with their students
The best thing about this school is that you can easily make friends. The most important thing about my school is that we strive to create a positive learning environment.
If the administrators can actually do their jobs, it would be great. The school is really bad at informing teachers and students of any changes.
