Willow Hill School Reviews
Rating 3.33 out of 5 3 reviews
Let me first start off by saying that Willow Hill was helpful to me in one way and that was getting me out of a large school setting. Willow Hill is a great place for a kid with both social issues and academic issues. If you just have academic issues, you will be underwhelmed by the student body. They say that they do not have students with any behavior issues that that is far from the truth. This school benefited me in middle school but do not send your student there if they want a normal high school experience. This is far from it. This school has so much potential to be a great place and it just lacks so much. The scary thing is that they say they send all these kids to college but in reality I can only name a couple that haven’t dropped out yet. Sports are not a thing here so if your student is athletic do not even consider this as an option. It saddens me that this school is the way it is because it could be great.
This is a school with so much potential, but there are some fundamental issues. First, some behavioral students are admitted who undermine the positive aspects of the school. It takes a ridiculously long time (sometimes years) for admin to kick these students out. Also, the range of cognitive abilities is too diverse, so the classroom curriculum becomes watered down. Tutorials are in groups, and don't meet individual needs. Second, not all teachers understand LDs or have proper training, even if they've been at the school for a long time. Teachers in language arts, theater and sports deserve five stars. Math/science is mixed; technology is boring and low-level. History in high school does not support EF challenges. Campus setting is lovely, buildings are nice too. This school has so much potential, but it needs to address these issues to earn four or five stars.
Willow Hill is the greatest thing that ever happened to me. When I first came into Willow Hill, I struggled to do basic arithmetic and write simple paragraphs. Now, having taken calculus and three AP courses, I will be graduating to pursue a degree in education.
