Willow Glen High is a diverse school filled with thousands of different students. It's difficult to say that my experience here has been outstanding. However, I can say for sure that it has been a one of a kind. Many teachers are fun, outgoing, and are great at teaching fundamental life lessons. On the other hand, I have had my fair share of teachers that are simply here to do their job. It's like they don't really care about the students. This is a little frustrating as it influences the students, and makes it harder for us to be motivated. Another thing about Willow Glen High, is that it lacks a bit of organization and discipline. There are constantly students smoking and vaping in the bathrooms. I understand this can be difficult for a public high school to control, but it makes school less appealing. Despite the negatives, Willow Glen High will forever be my home. The family I've found in clubs will always be important to me, and I'll never forget my time spent here.
I personally haven't ran into too many major issues at WGHS. The faculty are quite kind and I'm happy that they have put in more effort into getting students prepared for college. But I wish that their disciplinary was much better. I've seen people get away with a slap on the wrist for breaking and defacing property. The student body as well lacks diversity they so desperately advertise everywhere. The lack of diversity and representation in the school in general is also concerning, but expected. They cut corners with quite a bit of events and funding for certain events also. I do wish they had more open art after school programs, but sadly a lot of it goes to sports.
Overall this school is very safe and has good expectations for the alumni however, personally I believe this school should try to be more including and not have certain biased teachers that pick and choose favorites and the harassment and bullying should be taken more seriously and not swept under the rug like it's been happening. The bullying isn't only from one student to another it's also from teacher to student which is just completely wrong. All the complaints of students getting harassed aren't a priority and should be instead they're just being shrugged off. School is supposed to be a place where you can feel comfortable specially since it's a learning environment but it's nothing like that at all.
