I'm in the academy of Medical Sciences and the teachers in our medical classes are involved on getting us ready for the medical field, getting us ready for the real world outside of high school, helping pass our industry certifications, and above all that developing as a grown woman and man. I wish we had more clubs because we don't have sports so it's beneficial to have more, diverse clubs. Certain teachers are good at teaching and want to teach their students, but others just give work, grade them late, misplace work and other things. The food is not bad it's actually better than I anticipated. The friends that you make in high school are probably going to be the same friends for the rest of your lives. I have made amazing friends and having amazing teachers that have helped me academically and personally. The thing I love the most about is the school events like Talent show, Black History Month show, and Fashion show and the little music sessions in Turner Hall.
First of all, the math teachers are exceptional. They break down every concept thoroughly and their homework policies are not burdening. This school has provided me with more opportunities than I can even imagine. The Advanced Scholars Program has enabled me to take dual enrollment classes & the Academy of Medical Sciences allowed me to earn certifications. Being involved in the Student Government Association and Career Technical Student Organizations (e.g. Future Business Leaders of America, HOSA-Future Health Professionals) has allowed me to see what opportunities I, as a student, can bring to the school. So much so that the skills I learned from being in these organizations translated to outside organizations such as the Children's Trust Youth Advisory Committee, MDC Youth Commission and programs with the City of North Miami. Overall, no school is perfect. I wish the science teachers structured their lesson plans better. But it's up to students to make the most of their experience.
