I love attending William Floyd High School! There are so many ways to be interactive with the wide variety of sports and clubs that are offered at the school. The sports teams are really good depending on the sport. The faculty is also great. Some teachers have won awards and the counseling center along with the deans help a lot with any issues you may come across. The school contains a wide variety of kids with different ethnic backgrounds or cultures. The administration does their best to try and keep the school safe and orderly however this year there have been more fights and stricter regulations on clothes, especially targeting girls, as well as restrooms which may make the school feel closer to a military school rather than a public school. The school food is gross, I personally don't like it, and they serve us reduced fat chips which clearly taste different than regular ones.
According to my experience at William Floyd High School the faculty and staff prides themselves in always putting their students first. William Floyd High School offers various resources for their students, tutoring, counseling, mentor ship, and countless local scholarship opportunities. Their football program is one of the most accomplished on Long Island. Students in Mock Trial and Future Business Leaders of America have the opportunity to travel across states to compete with other chapters in areas of social reform, law, business, and public advocacy. William Floyd High Schools Music and Science department are said to be the most prestigious among other New York State public schools.
Growing up in the William Floyd school district was a great pleasure, The William Floyd community is very diverse so I can proudly say that I made countless friends from every ethnicity, race, and creed. The staff at William Floyd are exceptional! From bus drivers, Teachers, Lunch staff, Custodians, and all the way up to administrative staff they put the school on their backs and are what make attending William Floyd a great honor. The school district provides junior and senior students with the one of the kind Career & Technical Education program, students can take courses in Carpentry, Cosmetology, Auto Mechanics, and Culinary. These exclusive classes blend hands on learning with complex class work to give students a competitive edge in their desired industry. Although some flaws remain within the school district overall I can confidently say no other school compares to the excellence that William Floyd holds itself to, and I am proud to be an alumni.
