First off, I am currently a student here. My Mom went to Diamond too and agreed that it was absolutely HORRIBLE. Kids running around the hallways during class, swearing, doing tiktok, Snapchat, etc. The more melodramatic kids can get away with going to the counseling office and getting random kids in trouble! The teachers are burnt out and don’t care about their students. Bullying is a constant. There is a program in MA called METCO. They bring Boston students to suburban towns to get a better education. Instead of being thankful for this, they run around screaming swears and yelling “F U”. It’s horrible. Boys bully each other so much it’s disgusting. Girls screenshot each other’s chats and use it as blackmail. This school should be shut down. Thankfully, I’ll be going to a private school next year, as my parents can afford it. I feel bad for those who can’t, though. The worst part is that if the child is doing well in their classes, their parents don’t get a parent-teacher meeting!
Diamond scores very highly on MCAS and does very well on a variety of musical, math, science and sports competitions, but don't be fooled. This is a very populated middle school. Sports and musical activities are quite competitive. Grades have been eliminated during the pandemic (now doing standards based grading). As with all elementary schools, it seems that the teachers just focus on getting students to benchmark, and nothing extra. If your child is "meeting expectations" that is all the teacher is concerned with. As a result, excellence of students in various academic competitions comes not because of the teachers but perhaps in spite of them. Students come from highly educated and wealthy families who invest in outside "enrichment" such as , Russian School of Math, etc., and this is responsible for their academic success. There is nothing special about the curriculum at Diamond. The system doesn't hire teachers who are special or outstanding relative to their peer
The school overall is great! There are great teachers there and they do a great job of keeping students engaged and making the school fun for everyone. - Su
