William Byrd is an excellent school. Not only academically, but also socially. Besides William Byrd's exceptional academics, there is a a countless number of clubs and sports to participate in. These activities range from several sports, to chess clubs. We even have our own eSports team. In addition to the amount of after school activities, our school has some of the best school spirit in our entire district. No matter what sport or assembly, our student section is always packed. Our staff members are excellent. Every day they make it their goal to engage with the student body.
My experience so far at William Byrd has been good. I feel that I have received a good education and I look forward to continuing my studies at this school. My main and biggest complaint about this school is the lack of funds this school receives. This school has much potential, however lack of money prevent many opportunities from becoming reality. I experience this first hand from Science Fair. I found it quite difficult to compete with other schools such as Roanoke Valley Governor School because these school have lots of funding for resources and equipment for science and technology that I do not have access to at my school. This later hinders my success in Science fair because these projects from these school with more funding are capable of having science projects that are quite complex and are made possible with complex equipment, materials, and resources. This creates almost an unfair advantage against other intelligent students from less funded schools.
This school is spectacular! The teachers want to teach you, even during this stressful pandemic. William Byrd is clean and safe. I love this school and recommend it to anybody!
