The school is superior to any other magnet/public middle school in Texas. Its academics are rigorous but not too burdensome on the pupils of the school. It's a magnet school so it doesn't have sports, unfortunately. About 85% of the student body is white or Asian. Many kids are sad though- by that I mean the school does not give any emotional support for students except for the counselor which is nice but many students are too scared to talk to them. There are a couple of fun clubs that you can do but not much other than that.

Overall, my experience at Travis was fairly good. Most teachers were dedicated to their work and wanted to teach and challenge you, and the downtown location provided opportunities for fun activities. The school desperately needs more space, but the proximity to one another results in a close-knit bond between classmates.
I really liked Travis's challenging academics, the unique independent project, and the sense of community in the school. I would love to see a more involved principal, more help for the students, and more community involvement.
