I really enjoy Hough high school, overall great teachers, and AMAZING sports teams. There is a great outdoor area to eat lunch and a spacious theater. It is very inclusive and is sure to act on suspicious activity. However, I think that more parking should be made available because many juniors and seniors have to park half a mile away from the school and walk in the morning and afternoons regardless of rain, snow, or heat. There’s constantly positive and encouraging artwork and murals being displayed in the hallways. We also have a very strong presence from the Sources of Strength Club which focuses on making sure that everyone is included and if there are any events such as a local suicide, they reach out and let people know they are a safe space that people can come to if they are struggling as well. I am on the Varsity soccer team and it is one of the best teams I have ever been on, we are successful on the field and extremely successful off of it. I am very proud to be a Husky!
My time at William Amos Hough high has been a pleasant one. I enjoyed making new friends and seeing myself learn to be confident in my abilities when faced with a challenge. One thing I would like to see change at Hough is the school spirit and the events they offer. It is pretty basic and I feel with more involvement with all students it would make for a school that feels more like a community. However, I feel as the teachers at this school make an effort to get to know their students on personal level while maintaining a class that is challenging that will prepare us for college!
The engaging atmosphere, excellent teachers, and abundance of opportunities are great! I would definitely recommend this school if you were unsure of where to send your child.
