Based on your class choice, your learning environment varies greatly. As an AP student, I am surrounded by those with similar passion and drive. We motivate each other to be the best we can possibly be and a healthy level of competitiveness garners our hard work. The school focuses on creating a sense of unity through its many "Whitney United Movements". However, these movements tend to gloss over the mental well being of students as well as the blatant racism, homophobic, and generally disrespectful comments made towards others. The administration unintentionally ignores these problems, and that is something that must be changed. We as a student body can evolve into something greater through student led movements and clubs.
Whitney high school is a very unique school. It creates a sense of unity and community. It involves every student through clubs and sports to make every student feel like they belong. They do interviews on different students to highlight their high school experience at dances, football games, or even other events with friends. This school works hard to make sure every student is welcomed, especially through their Whitney United Movements, done every month to discuss issues such as bullying and kindness to get students talking about issues that all students can relate to. They are dedicated to making sure their students are not only excelling academically but also socially.
