My opinion of Whitley County High School is average. My experience has been less than thrilling. Most elements of the school are adequate, but some suffer greatly. For example, one of my largest peeves with the school would be it's issue of thinly-veiled discrimination. It might be expected because of where we live, but the tolerance of the bigger influencers, including the popular young men and women, in our school is somewhat abysmal. I hear racial slurs daily, as well as comments against the LGBTQ+ community. As a member of that group, I often feel somewhat alienated. Whitley could be more inclusive and attentive towards people like me. I do, however, believe we have an administration that does care for it's students, even if sometimes they disagree with them. The number of teachers I feel that support me greatly outweighs those who don't.

The teachers at this school are very knowledgeable. They are patient, as well. As a student, I felt that the school was a great place to join clubs or sports. The atmosphere was friendly and comfortable. As a friend to a current teacher at this school, I have watched her prepare lesson plans. I have also seen her work on other aspects of the job. She states that the school requires such extensive work. This makes me look at this school even more favorably. It is important to not judge a school unless you have been on both sides of the fence. I must say that this, I have done.
It has been several years since I've walked the halls of Whitley County High School. However, if my memory serves, I remember it being an average experience. The hallways and classrooms were usually pretty well cleaned. A lot of students were just there because they were required to be there. There were several amazing teachers there, but you still had some that weren't all that great. The faculty and staff were all polite. The administration was going through a rocky patch right before I graduated so there was a lot of debate as to what was going to be happening at what time. Overall, a pretty normal experience that I would say was clear-cut and simple.
