I didn’t really care for Whiteland High School. For the most part it’s a pretty average high school, but Whiteland specifically is unorganized. The administrators never use their heads! Every year for me was something different. Like we went on block, then they change our Study Hall period to a different part of the day. It’s never been the same in years. They’re always changing and always confusing students. Also, masks are only mandatory on the bus. However, if a student refuses to wear one then they can’t not give them a ride! It’s ridiculous! I think masks should still be necessary if students and staff aren’t vaccinated yet. Covid is still around and this is a school! My mom is a nurse and she’s starting to see a rise in Covid cases in kids in our area.
I have been honored to have been an active member in Whiteland's band, Best Buddy program, and advanced courses for all 4 years of high school. Our band and Best Buddy programs have enabled me to take on significant leadership opportunities and meet quite a variety of people. The Best Buddy program at Whiteland is known nationwide due to the level of excellence and support it receives from the student body, administration, and community. I have been a student leader of the group for the past 3 years and have gained the opportunity to meet and grow close to those with conditions that often seclude them from the mainstream population. The advanced courses that I have taken have been stringent and challenging but I felt well supported and encouraged by my teachers and classmates. There was a wide variety of courses from which to choose, opening my eyes to the various learning paths available to me and my future.
My experience at Whiteland Community High school over the past three and a half years has gone really well. I have done good academically and feel the school has been helpful in helping me to achieve my academic goals. Most of my teachers have done a great job teaching me and encouraging me in my studies. I have also been a part of many music programs at my high school and have had the opportunity to learn and grow in as a musician. I would highly recommend my high schools music program to anyone looking to gain ability and find enjoyment in this area! I can’t complain much about my experience besides what has happened with COVID over the past year... that’s really put a damper on my Senior year. Overall, I have enjoyed my high school experience with good teachers, friends and coming out of it with a good education and a talent with percussion!
