Classes prepare you well for college. AP classes and math in particular. Engineering class offering is good. Teachers care about the students. Students are friendly. Sports teams are competitive for a smaller school. District is great considering limited money that it has to spend due to IN changing school funding formula several years ago so that schools like Wheeler don't get as much money per student as other lower performing schools in the state. Fortunately, most parents and families are able to support extra curricular activities.
I have gone here the past four years, and I love it! My teachers have not only taught me about academics, but they give me advice! Our teachers not only care about our grades, but they care for their students well-being. The staff as a whole connect with us on a deeper level I have ever heard of. They listen to our concerns and take them into consideration. This is the BEST school in Indiana, and I am proud to be a bearcat! Once a bearcat, always a bearcat!
One thing that I love about Wheeler High School would be the ability to get involved in anything and everything. Because Wheeler is a small school, with maybe only 600 students in the entire high school, there is always a huge opportunity to be able to play any sport you wish as well as join any club or have a part in the theatrical productions. The academics can also be quite challenging depending on what courses you take. However, I believe that this truly helps you get further in life and your education because o the hard curriculum they offer now.
