Wheaton High School has in recent years become the premier school to attend if you wish to eventual become an Engineering or Biology Major in College. Their host of top talent teachers and Academics and state of the art facility allow students to comfortably expand their knowledge in these fields. However, the school suffers from this too, as there is a steep cultural divide from the more middle class background of the Magnet program which specializes in Engineering and Biomedical Engineering, and the working class background of the other students within the school. Furthermore, Magnet Students often receive preferential treatment over their normal counterparts, sometimes to the latter's detriment.

While Wheaton was extremely diverse, the student body was split academically. This encouraged kids to look down on people who weren't in AP or honors classes, going as far as to scold students by telling them they are better than the "on level kids". Along with this, Wheaton had very little school spirit as administration would discourage it. It was almost impossible to have pep rallies or spirit week without the principal threatening the students with suspension if they did even the tiniest thing wrong (like wearing pajamas). Even with these problems, the school was really good. There was access to amazing resources, including college classes and engineering labs. And the brand new building was really nice too.
We are a very resourceful school because of all the helpful programs students can be apart of. The writing center is where students get professional help in improving their writing. Wheaton also consists of College Tracks and Aces: programs guiding students in the college application process. Wheaton has helped me grow my personality by getting involved with sports, school events, and meeting a wide diversity of people. I have grown as a student by being in the International Global Culture Studies academy. By being in this academy I have been able to express my creativity and interests through music classes, historical classes, and psychology class. By taking these classes and more, I have discovered what I struggle with, and as well my academic strengths. Many high school students go to college without any idea of what I want to study, but because of Wheaton's culture and opportunities I know I want to become a psychologist.
