I’m a junior and although the year was crazy hectic and stressful, most of my teachers helped make it less chaotic. Although, there were a few teachers who made the stress even worse by not teaching well or overloading work. Specifically, one of my teachers never knew what they were teaching about and never responded to emails. In addition the teacher was very unreasonable with every assignment and every grade. Overall, I do love Wheatley though. It’s such a small school that everyone knows every and I love that!
It's a good small school with lots of opportunities to connect with teachers and great course offerings. There are many AP classes offered but no IB classes. The sports teams are good but demand a lot of time and effort. There are various club offerings, but there is currently a waitlist to start a new club. There are few specialized classes for certain majors such as political science, but there are abundant electives for business and engineering.
Teachers are the highlight and the school is the perfect amount of competitiveness. Compared to neighboring schools, it's not viciously competitive like Jericho but more competitive than easy-going schools like Carle Place. Athletics may not be the best, but that's a blessing in disguise. It's not extremely difficult to make the basketball team or start on the varsity lineup in wrestling, so athletes at Wheatley get a lot of playing time. Small schools also encourage kids to behave better since word gets around the school fast and you'll have to see the kid you pissed off everyday in the hallway since the school isn't exactly large.
