The reason why I gave 2 stars to many of the questions is because though the culture is great, there is a great disparity between the Hispanics and African Americans. Not just that but the educational system is failing these adolescents year after year. Yes, we all want the best for each student but if the teachers or school staff is unable to show physically that there is more to life than being in a gang, robbing, fighting, or any negative action then there is where the students do not pursue a higher education. There needs to be a big change in this school in order to start changing the negative mentalities of these young individuals because there are many brilliant students but there needs to be a way to tap into their potential. I loved the sports and the teachers but I struggled during my first couple of years of college because there were not many opportunities for me to progress and if there was, I did not know how important it was until I attended college.
My time at Wheatley High School has truly been one of my prodigious and fascinating experiences of my life. From the diligent working staff to the incredibly well mannered students, it truly makes its hard to comprehend the emotional distress the media puts upon on Wheatley High School. Now the reason why I stand behind my school with such pride and honor is for what they've done for not only me, but from hundreds of other students as well on helping us become the best student we can be.
I’ve only been at Wheatley for two years now (I’m a junior) & I love the teachers & learning new things from the subjected teachers , but I hate how students think it’s fun to disrespect the teachers . Not only does it create a problem for me, because I’m actually trying to learn, it’s rude to the teacher. Other than the immature students , the school is great for academics. I’ve made honor roll twice in the first semester & I plan to do better than that, this year .
