W.F. Kaynor Technical High School Reviews
Rating 3.72 out of 5 229 reviews
I graduated from Kaynor Tech in 2021 and I am so grateful that I was selected to attend and was able to experience many career and work opportunities while still in high school. Kaynor allowed me to obtain a hairdressing/barbering license at only 17 years old while graduating with all the necessary studies and academics. I can whole heartedly say that attending Kaynor Tech was the best choice for me and I would do it all over again if I could!
The school overall has a lot of potential, however, there are various problems. Multiple teachers outright punish students for even mentioning racism as a topic. Furthermore, there are multiple teachers who do not focus on teaching, rather push their ideas onto students. One example is a teacher ranting about how socialism is corrupting the youth. The school does try their best which is commendable, and most of the trade teachers are well educated on the topic they teach. However, during the exploratory process, they are extremely competitive and outright make impossible career promises to multiple students. Finally, the school is very disorganized and doesn't properly advertise multiple opportunities to students to be able to take advantage of and a lot of information just is not available.
At Kaynor, it can be tough balancing both trade and academic work. I have to say that throughout my last three years there it has been more than manageable. I’ve always said how grateful I am to go to a technical school, it gives such great opportunities with and without college. Many of the teachers are amazing and have made a very big impact on me and my learning. The administration could definitely use some work but overall they’re great too. Academically, I am happy at Kaynor. I’m also extremely glad they’ve gotten rid of the Aleks math program and I believe students will learn better without it. Overall though, Kaynor is a wonderful school to attend and I am incredibly happy there.
