The teachers here genuinely care about their students so much and create a friendly, hard working environment that builds community and trust. Cross country is highly competitive here with committed, experienced, likable coaches, but all of the other sports are not competitive. It has a great number of clubs here for it's size. This is the most diverse school I have witnessed and socially most students feel included and welcomed by other students. After going to high school, I realized how great the teachers and community was here at Westview! It was a great middle school to build a foundation on before high school. (Also it has a great band program and is strong overall in education but I was very unprepared for my science courses in high school).

This school is very high rated- and for a good reason. It is very hard to succeed for the average joe and many kids have private tutors and very rich and successful parents. It may lower your child's self esteem if your family comes from a middle to lower class family. The coursework is much harder and the classes are much more rigorous than competing high schools in the area (New Trier, LT, HS, DGN). However for me, it's been a great learning process. There are many opportunities to succeed and many great teachers.
I liked that it wasn't a big school. I also liked that there were plenty of activities that I could take part in for extracurriculars after school and plenty of elective choices for school.
