My favorite thing about Westside is its huge selection of classes, clubs, and other opportunities that are available to students. The school truly has something for everyone. Additionally, the teachers are highly qualified, and content is usually delivered in a way that makes learning easy and fun. Westside is also very diverse, and it is easy to find people both alike and different from you. There are also several different sports that can be played, including lacrosse and water polo. Some things that Westside could improve upon are its website, which does not always have updated information, and is sometimes confusing to navigate, and its communication between administration and students. Westside also enforces its uniform policy very strictly, such as when students coming from freezing temperatures are told to immediately take off their non-Westside winter apparel. Overall Westside is a school with an interdisciplinary approach to learning, and a great environment for everyone.
My four years at Westside High School were a good experience in all. The campus is absolutely stocked with the space and amenities for a variety of career paths, teams, and recreation. A major aspect of this school that stands out is the diversity of the student body as a whole, which allowed myself, and many others, the opportunity to pick up on many languages, traditions, lifestyles, and long-lasting bonds. Alas, I have yet to find a school that is 100% flawless. There are a few tidbits I would leave behind, such as a hope for better communication, incorporating increased counselors on campus (mental health and a few additional college counselors would be swell). Diverting back to a general sense, Westside is a great school overall, featuring a wide variety of opportunities for success for incoming and current students.
