Westridge offers an extremely rigorous academic experience. I am immensely grateful for the education I have received at this school. However, I cannot deny the faults of its toxic competitive and elitist environment. The culture of comparative suffering, and pressure to constantly strive for (and prioritize) academic excellence is potent, and damaging to students’ mental health. We don’t have finals anymore, though! That’s a plus.

Review Westridge School

Love Westridge - it's the only school I've found that has the perfect mix of community and academics. Over time, they've gravitated away from traditional education in favor of more progressive pedagogy -- which has both its pros and cons. On the whole, Westridge is a place where students can be weird and curious and ask big questions, have intellectual conversations and debates with their teachers and peers, and explore their interests boldly and passionately. The campus is spectacular-- it looks like a tiny East Coast liberal arts school-- and the cafeteria food is top-tier.

When we were looking for private school, we were looking for a school not only offers robust academic curriculums, but also emphasizes on character and social-emotional learning. Our daughters have been with Westridge since 4th grade, and our experiences have always been positive. With more than 100 years of history under strong leadership, Westridge is very proficient in providing an environment that's best fit in shaping young, independent girls. The school continuously evolves and does an excellent job empowering young minds to meet new challenges of modern days. Our daughters are continuously challenged intellectually and never be afraid to make a mistake. We are especially impressed by how Westridge takes an early initiative with DEI and encourages the whole community to make a difference. Teachers and administrators are truly supportive and nurturing. With confidence, we know that we are raising intellectual and well-rounded daughters together.
