Ive been going to WA for a while, this is my fourth year. My favorite part is probably the people, as I have some great friends here. There are a lot of extracurriculars to get involved with, and the school is really good at making sure the commitments are balanced, so you can be involved in multiple clubs/sports at the same time. The athletics are pretty good and almost everyone who goes here is involved in some kind of sport. Our basketball team has won states two years in a row and we have a bunch of other sports that have won or gone to regionals or states (water polo, track, XC). Our football team is terrible though lol. There are a bunch of different clubs and organizations to join- the drama department and robotics club in particular are really great. The school culture is mediocre. There is hardly any school spirit at all, the rules are pretty strict, and the students don't really care about the school events.

My experience at Westminster Academy has been overall wonderful. I started attending there in the second grade. The teachers are very kind, they pray for you, and they’re always there to help you. the lunch experience is also wonderful. This year being my last year as a senior, Westminster has changed their choices of meals which is better and up to par. The chapel experience in my opinion is great. They invite a different speaker, so students can hear other people besides the same people that we hear from every Wednesday. Overall Westminster is a family and I am proud to say that I will be a graduate from Westminster.
I really love this school! the classes are pretty small (about 60 or 70, depending on your grade), so basically everyone knows each other. We are sort of like a big, dysfunctional family. Because of that, being new can be a bit rough here, especially in middle school (i came in 7th grade) just because everyone is really close. Ive noticed, though, that if you are outgoing and work hard to make friends, you will do just fine. Middle school here definitely has cliques, just like any other school, but when high school comes they DEFINITELY start to dissappear. Mostly everyone is nice and easy to get to know, if you're outgoing. In terms of the teachers, I have found that some classes are way harder than others depending on who you have. I have had a couple teachers who basically treat the students like kindergarteners, giving out "classroom dojo points" or "privilege passes", while other teachers genuinely challenge the class. There are brilliant people here, and i know a lot of kids who are talented students, artists, photographers, athletes, and more. The school is very religious, and they teach from a christian perspective, which is good, but it does get in the way of students thinking for themselves. Basically every time I have tried to challenge a teacher's perspective, whether it has to do with theology or science, I have been shut down. They really try to avoid tricky subjects like evolution and stuff like that, but the new headmaster is trying to improve in the whole "talking about controversial things and letting kids think for themselves" area. At westminster, the entire upper school has a split day schedule, so we have A days and B days, each with four classes a day. It can be exhausting having so sit through an hour and a half of lessons, but it definitely makes the homework load lighter. Its also nice because we get long elective periods, too. I honestly just love it here, it's a place where i can be myself have fun, but still learn and grow. It's great!
