The building and faculty are great! I took off a star because of recent administrative changes that make students at and teachers’ lives harder generally create a negative attitude around the school. Nonetheless, students are generally kind and teachers are generally understanding. The building and theater are beautiful.
Central had a wide range of academic classes and activities- like Black History Month and Arts Alive - that made the school inclusive and fun. Most of the teachers were kind and wanted to see you succeed. There were classes for those who needed extra help and classes for those who needed more challenge- these were vigorous and exciting. The school's working on boosting minority involvement in higher academic classes. Breaking the racial barrier and making minorities apart of the school is important and they added minority faculty to help. Lastly, it's imperative that the counselors work with students and try to understand them. Their problems should not be minimized and counselors should try to alleviate stress. All students deserve to know there's someone who cares about them and wants them to live. At a big school students can feel like they're lost in the crowd and Central could do better at personalizing everyone's experience. Overall it was a typical high school experience.
I just feel so lucky that I get to attend Westerville Central. The teachers and staff alone are so friendly, helpful, understanding, and they truly care for their students and want to see them succeed. There are also so many opportunities and resources available in order for students to thrive. I have gained so much knowledge from this high school not just academically, but for real life too. I will carry Westerville Central and all of it's teachings with me for the rest of my life. Go Warhawks!
