My experience at Western International High School was great! The environment is very diverse and the school opened doors for kids who struggled and had tons of different programs to help the community. However, I believe they should change the lunches, the lunches are one of the main problems at the school.

I attended Western International High School for all my four years of high school. Overall it was a pretty good experience, however it did have some downfalls. In many cases we had a lack of resources, not only a lack of technology, but also teachers. In my opinion many teachers should not have been allowed to teach here, but due to the lack of resources we were forced to deal with these teachers. We as a school managed to deal with these decisions, which kind of allowed us to learn how to deal with bad circumstances, but make the best out of it.
Well, Western was the only public high school within the Southwest-area of Detroit, an area of various diversities but all "classified under the blue-collar, working class" of America. If you had dreams of a higher-level of education, YOU had to teach yourself and persist because my high school fails to prepare you adequately for college. The only good teachers were the Honors and Advance Placement teachers, and you knew that group extremely well. The entire school knew who were the Honors/AP students and who were not. That "division" does not make a school successful, nor does it . I graduated in 2015 out of a class of 365 students and placed in the top one percent, all because I persisted on wanting a Bachelors in Supply Chain Management from a top-Michigan university.
