Western Boone is a very small, but homey school. It is full of amazing and unique people. Being such a small school, students really connect to students and can often participate in one-on-one teaching and training. Western Boone also offers a good range of sports including football, basketball, baseball, tennis, cross country, track and field, golf, soccer, and wrestling, for boys, and basketball, softball, tennis, soccer, track and field, cross country, cheerleading, and volleyball for girls. At WEBO, nearly everybody knows everybody so it is really just one big family.
My experience at Western Boone has been nothing short of amazing. I love having a small community and being able to feel close and supported by the whole Western Boone staff. The teachers are very helpful and approachable if you need help or have any problems. One thing that our school could improve on is our Spanish department. We struggle finding good teachers that last in our Spanish department besides our head of the Spanish department, who is the best at what she does. We just struggle to find good teachers to help her out with the other classes. Our school can also get better at offering other languages. We only have the choice of Spanish or sign language when it comes to that.
I love Western Boone. This is my fourth year attending, and I've loved every minute of it. The small size makes it easy to become closely connected with everybody in the school - that applies from students to teachers and counselors to even the custodians. I feel a personal connection to everybody at the school, which has made me feel very good about my progress in both academics and athletics. The teachers are all very good at their job, and will go out of their way to help any student in need of help, while still maintaining a fun, relaxed, and stress-free environment in their classrooms. The counselors are extremely friendly and will treat any student that walks into their room as a person and as a friend. Coaches clearly want to see their athletes improve, and put in the effort to make it happen. This kind of intimacy among the school staff and the students makes Western Boone a wonderful place to live and learn.
