I personally loved my experience at Westchester! I was constantly academically challenged with the rigor of my classes, and I happened to meet some of the best people here as well. Many of the teachers I had are extremely kind and hardworking, providing me with all the resources and help I would need. All of the students are kind and courteous to one another. The only thing I wish weren't happening is that a lot of the super teachers are leaving my senior year and a lot of new changes are being made, so I am fearful at the short-term effects of them.

After attending WAIS for 6 years, I can I say how much I enjoyed having the opportunity to create such lifelong bonds with both friends and faculty. Although academics may feel challenging at times, it’s their level of competitiveness that prepared me to go to a Boston College and feel prepared. I know that with the right kind of motivation and the academics offered at WAIS, all students have the opportunity to thrive and succeed. Nevertheless, having been considered a primarily academic school, I’ve found that some students don’t get the “typical high school” experience they crave. However, this can be fixed as we’re able to attend other schools’ sporting events and hold our own dance/community events.
Westchester is a charter school in the Spring Branch district that exceeds in diversity within the student population and the inclusion of all backgrounds. The school’s primary focus is academic in nature (and does not have sports teams, however does offer athletic clubs and electives), offering many Pre-AP, AP, and IB courses that successfully prepare students to excel in college or in the workforce. The small community of Westchester allows each student to have the individual attention, if necessary to ensure proficiency and wellness.
