While attending Westbury High School I have been able to break out of my shell and grow as a person. I have made meaningful connections with my peers and teachers. Many of the teachers and faculty members genuinely care about the wellbeing of the students, and for that I am grateful. GO HUSKIES!

My favorite thing about Westbury High School is the variety in the types of students attending the school. I've been able to learn about the world from many different points of view and I believe this has been very important in helping me become a more compassionate and understanding person. I admire my peers for their strong work ethic and find the them surprisingly driven for academic success compared to other schools I've attended.

What I dislike about this school is that many of the students, including myself, feel that the administration does not care about us. There have been several awful instances between students and the administration. One was when an administrator confiscated students' hoodies, as they are not allowed to wear them to school, and cut off the hoodies with scissors before returning them to the students. Not all administrators are this bad, however, it's hard to come to school and feel welcome while these administrators are treating us this way.
Most of the academic courses were very challenging however, the teachers were able to help students as much as they could so that they were able to have high grades in the class. Honors and AP courses were provided for students if they wish to challenge themselves more. There were also a lot of extracurricular activities that took place after school like sports and clubs. Over the years, many clubs were available for students to partake in. They were different stem clubs as well as new hobbies for students to try out. These clubs varied from sciences and engineering to arts and crafts. In the future, I hope that the school would provide students with a more thorough way of applying for scholarships. This way students would have a better understanding of what they are eligible to apply for.
