As a freshman at West Sound I can honestly say I was surprised at the disrespect that SOME ( there were a few gems ) administrators, faculty and teachers had towards students. For example a friend of mine was accused in front of a large portion of my class of doing drugs just like her mom by our art teacher . She of course was greatly offended and of course it was not true. That teacher received no backlash from administration. She also called out a girl who was dealing with a serious eating disorder in a similar matter.
The principle herself also participated in this behavior . She in fact personally effected me. She called me a bimbo during a meeting with my teachers conducted by her to address my "flirtatious " behavior.
As a insecure ninth grader at the time it deeply effected how I viewed myself and my body. Often girls who were more "shapely" were put under the same scrutiny .

As a parent, there is no other school in Kitsap County that I'd want my child to attend. This school is beyond anything I imagined and it's affordable in comparison to other local private schools. Today my daughter sat in on a college class at a top local university. When I asked her how the class was she said, "Great, I've already learned what they were teaching though, but I did write down one new word I didn't know." (She's 15 and a sophomore, but is already ahead of college classes.)

In 7th grade, her History Bowl team won state and competed in Washington DC in the Nationals. They have a strong Knowledge Bowl team as well. The students at WSA work hard and are interested in learning. They are kind, accepting of others, and I feel grateful she has a school with so many people who care about her. As an IB school, they are way above other schools in the area and have small class sizes, which also helps as well.
This is one of the most accepting schools in the county. From straight to LGBT to religious to non-religious, introverts, extroverts-- the kids are just good to each other. They also have a good number of international students that are treated very kindly. It's a very compassionate school.
