The teachers will do anything to help their students. They push students to achieve their greatest, and encourage growth in all aspects of education. Several teachers take the time to help students outside of school as well, including Coffee Shop Study Sessions, and Saturday sessions at the local library. The principals care about student feedback, and genuinely try to please as many students as possible. The school is constantly active with fundraisers and parties that teachers/principals regularly participate in. Students get to choose themes for spirit week, plan dances and assemblies, and even got to vote on the proposal to eliminate Study Hall from their schedule. My only complaint: the food is a little bland and sometimes tastes like cardboard.
West Senior High has been a great school to spend my high school career. From the teachers to the variety of programs available I have been very pleased with all of my opportunities and options. I believe there is a club or a group or an extracurricular activity for everyone, and not just sports! I have been very involved with the theater program throughout my 4 years and my passion has been supported, encouraged and developed into my ultimate career goal of being an actress. The productions are incredible and I've even had the opportunity to be a director.
If I could change one thing about the school, I would break down social barriers for LGBT students. The school has come a long way in supporting this population of kids but I think society in general we could be better at loving everyone.
