Overall my experience at West Ranch High School over the course of four years has been satisfactory. I've had amazing teachers who have helped me engage in rigorous classes and programs. The absence of the last star is solely based off the fact that I believe he math program struggles in certain areas missing key criteria. There are a selected handful of outstanding math teachers that basically carry the rest, which is where I notice the fault. Besides that, I have enjoyed and had fun throughout high school here at West Ranch and would recommend the school itself. With a loving community and welcoming environment the staff help ensure everyone get's the most out of their education!

Though a very competitive school academically, athletics and everyday life at West Ranch had room for improvement. Within the district, West Ranch was termed the “rich kids school” which was evident if you stepped on campus to see the “popular rich” kids atop a hill while the rest of the student body stood beneath them. Students were clearly divided amongst their own groups creating a very unwelcoming environment on campus. Besides the tough social situation, the academics were cut-throat. If you’re lucky, a 4.0 weighted GPA will land you in the 20th percentile of your class. Less competitive were the sports. West Ranch shined in sports like golf and tennis, but were outranked year after year on all other fields. Whether it be because teachers were part time coaches or students were too focused on the academics, it’s hard to say. Would I go back to that school? Never, but at least I learned how to work hard and network.
West Ranch is hands down one of the best high schools out there! The science department is absolutely unmatched; the courses are difficult and informative and the teachers are warm and helpful! Elective classes are offered in abundance and are very applicable to everyday life. The foreign language department is also amazing with a perfect balance of structure and fun!
