I've been attending WMAA for what will be four years now, and I am fairly impressed. Most of the teachers here actually care, and are willing to help you as you figure things out. The addition of an aviation program in high-school adds for an interesting touch, along with a focus on STEM classes. However, despite it's pro's, with every school there is a con. Over the past few years, we've gone through 2 counselors and are currently on our third. The current and past counselors appeared to be unprepared during registration, and have both ended up creating scheduling problems for our school. Also, there are an extremely limited amount of sports and clubs, as we are still growing our extracurricular activities. Overall it is a good school though. Go Aviators!

Wonderful school. The teachers and administration really care, the facilites are great, and the opportunities are endless. If you like STEM or aviation or anything in between, this is the place to find like-minded & inclusive students. Of course, we are really lacking in music and the arts, but we have clubs to get involved in and some students participate in non-affiliated orchestras and choirs, etc. I'm so grateful I chose to come here nearly 4 years ago. The people I met & experience I've gotten is invaluable- so many opportunities to improve my leadership, academics, and soft skills. I would not be the same person without this school!
The West Michigan Aviation Academy is a great school, though it is misunderstood as well. Most people come thinking they'll be turned into a pilot, however the school is much more than that. It is certainly guided by aviation, but it is propelled by engineering, and upheld by the spirit of discipline that it works so hard to cultivate. The students are all very polite, and more than willing to help. The engineering programme works closely with the field of aviation, involving several aspects of it, such as autonomously piloted drones, study and testing of aviation equipment such as aerofoils, engines, rocket power, and other things, and study of aircraft systems. These rare programmes are not simply a gimmick; they teach students real-world skills that they can then apply to a job in aviation, industry, or any of several other fields, making them more prepared to take college-leveled classes on such things than other students might be.
