My experience with West Limestone has overall been pretty good. In some areas I would say poor because not a lot of people really pay attention to those areas. Most teachers are wonderful, college readiness is very high, administration is very good. My main issues is the safety and the culture of the school. With some school there's at least some security. With our school, any one can pretty much walk in. The "culture" of our school is kind of poor as well. There's a lot of division between sports and the arts. The sports don't usually respect the arts as much as the arts respect them. Other than those few issues, I would say my school is a very decent school!

I homeschooled and private schooled before starting at WLHS in 10th grade. I mostly stopped learning in 10th grade (until college, that is).

Due to drug busts and low test scores, the budgets were often cut so the school could not afford to offer a proper "protein" at lunch and gave us 2 cheese sticks instead. For the same reason, they often could not afford printer paper, so we had to write our own tests on paper we brought from home. There was always money for the football team, however.

The teachers spent more time discussing how they hate the educational system or how much they loved football than teaching us. They were still kind to us and good people.

Thankfully, they took on a new guidance counsellor my senior year, and as a first generation college student, she was the only reason I realized I was eligible for scholarships and went on to get a degree. I will give the school more than 1 star for that reason. I have no idea if she still works there.
I have attended West Limestone High since kindergarten. It is has an excellent community that is very involved with school activities. The classes offered are extremely rigorous and fully prepare each and every student for the next step they choose to take in their future. The teachers and staff care for the students and have a personal connection with each and every one. The resources that are available allow every student to learn to the best of their ability. Throughout my years I have seen growth and change in not only West Limestone, but Limestone County in a whole to reach our full potential as a School System. The opportunities Limestone County offers to its students involving service to our community are unlike any other. My peers have been trained to be respectful and responsible, each and every one learning to be a leader in their own way. My time at West Limestone High has prepared me for my future, not only academically but also for any future endeavors that I pursue.
